What to bring to your first Inquiry session:

New Inquiry Client Disclosures Packet (click to download as a .PDF file)
Click the link above to download the paperwork for new inquiry counseling clients. To save time at your first appointment, you are welcome to download it, print it, and fill it out before your appointment. At the end of the packet is a "Judge-Your-Neighbor Worksheet" - you are invited to fill this out as well, following the simple directions at the top. If you get confused or stuck on the Worksheet, it's no problem, just bring the new client packet and your finished or unfinished worksheet with you to your first session.
(Please note- this packet is for Guided Self-inquiry Facilitation clients only. Separate packets are used for Educational Testing and Ayurvedic clients.)

Required reading for continuing clients:
The book "Loving What Is" by Byron Katie, is the basic guide to self-inquiry through The Work. I cannot recommend this book highly enough to anyone who seeks peace. It is not necessary to read the book before your first session, although it can be helpful to read even part of it if you are able. A great way to start is to download this free excerpt.

All continuing clients are asked to read "Loving What Is." It is available through most libraries and booksellers, our office, and at our online Bookstore.
It is helpful but not necessary to read at least part of this book before your first session, and all continuing clients are asked to read the book.

More Inquiry-related Resources

Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet
The Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet is a valuable tool for self-inquiry. If you are upset with a family member, friend, co-worker, etc., you can use this Worksheet to stop your speeding thoughts on paper. Then investigate those thoughts thoroughly while they are immobilized by bringing the completed sheet to your next facilitation session or by following the simple directions on the second page to self-facilitate. You may be astonished by what you find on your own,
and if you are ever feeling confused or stuck with your inquiry, I welcome your Worksheets at our next session. For those who are new to inquiry, it is generally more effective to judge someone other than yourself on the Worksheet, so start with the people in your past or present about whom you have stressful thoughts.

Free Videos of The Work in Action

Seeing someone else being facilitated is a wonderful way to get an understanding of how The Work can help with specific issues.
Byron Katie, the founder of The Work, offers many online videos of her work with various clients at www.byronkatie.com and and other resources at www.thework.com. If you would like to learn more about self-inquiry, these are great sites to visit.

Some thoughts from facilitator Jay Easton:

Our behavior shows what we truly want.
This is often very different than what we think we want.

Here is the secret of life: however you view the world, that is how it is for you.

One such view: Blessedness is the only reality. Anything else is a misunderstanding.

Your need to be right and be in control is why you suffer.

No one can ever manipulate you unless you want something from them.
If you allow them to manipulate you, you are allowing yourself to be bought.

What are you unwilling to question? What are you afraid to question? What are your sacred concepts?
What do you get from those beliefs that you are unwilling to lose?
